Athlete Spotlight: Tracey R.

What made you choose CrossFit True?

-My daughter attended a birthday party at CrossFit True. Being there made me realize how

much I missed being part of a gym and that what I was doing on my own was not working.

How long have you been training with us?

- It will be two years in August.

What has been your proudest moment in the past 90 days?

- I am proud every time I walk out of the gym after putting all of my effort into the

workout!

When you’re not at the gym, what do you do for work? What do you do for fun?

- I am the math program coordinator for grades 6-12 in a local school district. When I

am not at work, I like to spend time with my husband and two daughters. We spend a

lot of time at the soccer field and on the basketball court. During the summer we hike,

camp, and love to go to amusement parks.

How is your nutrition? How has it changed since joining CrossFit True?

-My nutrition is far from perfect but definitely better than before I joined. I am

more aware of what I eat and have become better at planning and preparing food

ahead of time.

What are your 3 favorite movements/exercises?

- Push press, running, anything taken out of the rack

What is your favorite style workout? (AMRAP, EMOM, Rounds for Time, etc)

- Rounds for Time or something with a time cap

What about your favorite workout?

- I like conditioning workouts that include lots of different movements/exercises and

running.

Any favorite workout songs?

- I enjoy working out to all types of music as long as it has a good beat. Once I start

working out I tend to block out the words.

Have you changed physically or mentally since you’ve been working out with us?

Yes, I am definitely stronger both physically and mentally. When I started, I

couldn’t even jump up and hang from the bar and I always had to walk at some

point during the running portion. I am also more positive. When I first started,

all I thought about after the workout was all of the things I couldn’t do. Now I am

more focused on all of the things I can do rather than on all of the things I still

can’t do.

What are your current goals?

-I am working on doing a real push up.

How have your goals changed since you joined?

-When I first joined my goals were just to make it to the gym twice a week and

survive the workouts. Now my goals are to try to lift a little more each time, try

to do as much as I can without modifying, and I am still working on doing push

ups.

What has been the biggest surprise since joining CF True?

-The biggest surprise is how supportive everyone is. There is a real sense of comradery that I

haven’t felt at any other gym.

What can you do now that you couldn’t do before joining?

-Pretty much everything I am doing now I couldn’t do before. I never thought I would actually

be able to do any of what I am doing now. Especially after not working out for such a long

time, having two kids, and turning 40!

-I can’t thank Moe enough for encouraging me to keep going and always having alternatives

for me to try throughout the workout if what we are doing is too much on my back. I am not

much of a talker in class so I would also like to say thank you to all my fellow athletes for

welcoming me to the gym and always cheering me on!
